About Me
My name is Pieter Hijma. I'm a freelance software developer, researcher, and open source software and hardware enthusiast.
I have a PhD in Computer Science, specializing in High-Performance Computing.
I'm passionate about Open Source Software and Hardware. The last two years I have been working on generating assembly manuals automatically for Open Source Hardware. Open Source Software/Hardware is different from proprietary software/hardware because the specifications to build a program or physical product are accessible. A better term is free or libre software because it gives the users the freedom to modify, redistribute, and study the source code or specification without hindrance.
You may feel that these two topics are not related, but the recurring theme in my interests is how you can express yourself such that both computers and other persons understand what you mean. This can be programs for many-cores or specifications for visual documentation.
Currently, I'm a freelance software developer and researcher. Do your software challenges require a research-driven approach? Feel free to contact me!
